Trader Joes Charcuterie Board Recipe

Eight Trader Joe’s cheeses, four deli meats, fresh fruit, five cracker types, and a full spread of nuts and condiments make up this board. The whole assembly takes 30 minutes and serves 10 to 12 people as an appetizer. One visit to Trader Joe’s deli and cheese sections covers everything on the list.

Setting small bowls for honey, jams, mustard, and olives down first determines how everything else arranges around them. Each bowl becomes a fixed anchor, and the cheeses, meats, crackers, and fruit fill the space between. Starting with cheese instead pushes the bowls into leftover gaps, and the layout never balances the same way.

The cheeses come out of the refrigerator at the start of the build, not at serving time. Cold dulls the flavor of aged varieties like Manchego and stiffens soft cheeses like Brie and chèvre. Thirty minutes at room temperature is enough time to build the full board, so the timing costs nothing.

  • Arrange the 8 cheeses in clusters across the board, spacing them evenly. Place bunches of red and green grapes between the cheese clusters.
  • Add the meats between the cheese clusters: roll prosciutto slices into cylinders, fan capocollo into circles, and fold salame slices into quarters to form layered flowers.
  • Fill the remaining open spaces with crackers, nuts, dried apricots, dried cherries, dried figs, and the marcona almond varieties.
  • Add apple and pear slices at the very last moment before serving. Give each cheese its own knife or spreader and add a small spoon to each condiment bowl.

FAQs

What does this board cost to build from Trader Joe’s?

Building the full board at Trader Joe’s prices runs approximately $95 for all eight cheeses, four meats, and accompaniments. The cheese section drives most of that cost, with the triple cream and Stilton priced higher than the Gouda and Unexpected Cheddar. Cutting to four cheeses and two meats for a smaller gathering reduces the total cost by roughly half.

Can any of the eight cheeses be swapped if Trader Joe’s is out?

Keeping a mix of soft, semi-soft, aged, and blue varieties matters more than matching each exact label. Any other triple cream replaces Le Delice de Bourgogne, and another aged sheep’s milk cheese stands in for Manchego. Replacing the Blue Stilton with another strong blue keeps the board’s flavor range intact without changing the overall experience.

How does this board scale for a smaller gathering?

For four to six guests, cut the cheese count from eight to four and reduce each cracker type to half a package. Keep one soft, one semi-soft, one aged, and one bold variety to preserve the flavor range in miniature. Two meat varieties at about 4 ounces each cover the same spread as four on the full board.

What Trader Joe’s bread pairs with this spread?

Warm bread alongside the crackers gives guests a soft option for the spreadable cheeses and fruit butters. A TJ’s flatbread recipe on this site adds a warm bread element to the same frozen aisle spread. Together the two cover a full appetizer table built entirely from one TJ’s shopping run.

What other Trader Joe’s recipe fits a party table alongside this board?

Not every appetizer on a party table needs to be cold and assembled. A TJ’s everything ciabatta rolls on this site bakes in under 15 minutes and adds a warm bread option to the cold board. Together the two cover a full party table with cold grazing and warm bread from one TJ’s run.
